STUDY ABROAD
The United Kingdom (UK) is renowned for its high standards of education that involves a progressive curriculum and pedagogy. Not only are there some of the oldest universities in the UK consistently, but also some of the high-ranking ones. Thus, it is needless to say that the degrees from the universities in the UK are ratified by employers globally.
Each of the four jurisdictions, namely England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have thorough autonomy with respect to their education system. Therefore, the qualifications framework is different in each of these jurisdictions while the entire education system of the UK is founded on the common principle of encouraging and guiding students towards an analytical and logical line of thinking.
Higher Education
Besides the conventional Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programmes, international students also have an option to progress to university-level courses through pathway programmes.

Study Levels & Qualifications Framework
The four stages of the education system in the UK are:
- Primary Education
- Secondary Education
- Further Education
- Higher Education
The qualification framework is a principal, national reference point that manages higher education standards. In the UK, there are two parallel frameworks:
- The Framework for Higher Education Qualifications of Degree Awarding Bodies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ)
- The Framework for Qualifications of Higher Education Institutions in Scotland (FQHEIS)
Under these two frameworks, there are 160 universities and colleges that award degrees in the UK.
Quality Assurance System
The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is an autonomous body that regularly conducts audits of all the universities and shares best practices in teaching methods and curriculum. These audits are conducted to ensure high standards in education, yet the private institutions do not come under this assessment.
